3 Tips for a Mix and Match Wardrobe

OOTD:

Do you struggle with putting things together in your closet?  Are you always wearing the same clothes paired together?  Can't figure out what else to wear that top with?  Well, you're in luck! Today we're gonna talk about my:

TIP #1:  Same Color Pallet

You all know how I feel about finding your seasonal color (more info here).  But even if you don't care about your best colors, keeping your closet within one color pallet will make it so much easier to grab a couple pieces and have them go together.

I'm a Soft Summer.

TIP #2:  One Piece Multiple Ways

Think outside the box with your clothes.  Try pairing each top with every single bottom.  Don't just look at them on the hanger and say "These won't work."  Try them on and see what happens!  You might be surprised with the outfits you come up with.  Not all of them will work, and that's ok!  Just keep trying.
Next try pairing each bottom with every single top.  Oh yeah, you're gonna need more than just 6 pairs of jeans.  By the way, most of us don't need 6 pairs of jeans.  Try mixing up your wardrobe with different bottoms: leggings, slacks, corduroys, capris, shorts, and skirts (all different lengths and styles) are all great options.

More 1 Piece Many Ways outfits to come.

Each piece (especially tops) should be able to be worn in many ways.  This tunic can be tucked, half tucked, and belted.  Tops can also be worn as they are or even tied.  Just keep experimenting.  And remember, "summertime" clothes CAN be worn in fall and winter and vice versa.  It's all in how you style them.

TIP #3:  Completer Pieces and Accessories

Never underestimate the power of accessories.  I've been an accessories addict for as long as I can remember, and accessories combined with completer pieces can totally change the look and feel of an outfit.  Here we're gonna take the same base (dressy tee and jeans) and style it in different ways for different looks and occasions.

Base:

Mixing it Up:
Here we've glammed it up with peep-toe pumps, a shiny belt, long silver necklace, and sparkly bracelet.

This is a more romantic look, with linen peep-toe wedges, and floral jewelry.

Another romantic look with the same wedges and a floral scarf tied in a half bow.

Here we have a more casual look with flats and a denim vest.

We've toughened up with look with a faux leather jacket and ankle boots.

What puts you in the mood for Mixing and Matching your wardrobe?  Once you've tried these tips, post pictures of the outfits that have surprised you!  I'd love to see them!

'Til next time loves!

  1. Great tips, Mandy! I would love to know what season I am, that is something that has interested me for a while now. Tip #3, I totally agree with you, accessories and completer pieces can completely change the look of an outfit! I like how you started with the photo of your base outfit and showed all the different looks you could achieve just by switching up the accessories.
